1922 passport application photo for J. Henry Ferguson, Jr.
     In 1928, J. Henry Ferguson, Jr. donated $100,000 - over 1.3 million in today’s money - to the Municipal Art Society of Baltimore for a statue of Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. 'Stonewall' Jackson. 
     ​Ferguson was born before the Civil War, in 1849 in Baltimore County. In 1850, his father, who made his money in real estate was listed as a slave owner. Ferguson, Jr. went on to become the President of the Colonial Trust Company.
